Arius3D
Arius3D is a content creation company, built on the foundation of a unique, transforming and enabling set of integrated technologies, that offers strategic enterprise solutions to today's greatest visualization challenges. Arius3D creates and delivers the world's best visual content faster and easier than alternative methods.
Arius3D Inc. is a company formed expressly to define, establish, support and grow the cross-industry, global reference standard for 3D color imaging. The company has secured a worldwide exclusive license to commercialize state-of-the-art, three-dimensional, color, laser imaging technology from the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). The technology is patented by the Government of Canada and Arius3D Inc. Arius3D does not ãsellä scanners or scanning systems. Scanners are leased.
Using a revolutionary system, Arius3D digitally captures both the color and geometry of real world objects, simultaneously and in perfect registration Objects are captured independent of ambient light and at near microscopic resolution, resulting in archival quality, 3D digital copies of real world objects.
The technology consists of a laser camera and a motion control system
for moving the camera. The shape and color measurements are completely
independent of the effects of ambient light. Scanned data are recorded
and processed by software to transform the data into high-quality, 3D
color images. The laser scanning mechanism characterizes each point on
the scanned object according to its color and location in 3-space. It
does this by scanning the surface of an object with three different
laser wavelengths (red, green and blue) in one focused beam, and
recording the reflected light.
Arius3D data is software and platform agnostic. It can easily be exported into any other 2D or 3D visualization software package. Images can also be presented using Arius3D's Pointstream viewer that allows the interactive display of true 3D images in a fully scalable representation.
Arius3D Inc. ("The Company") is a private company.

Photogrammetric Vector
Collection and Terrain Editing
The Challenge:
Techniques for semi-automated feature extraction are not reliable
enough for the purpose of photogrammetric vector collection and terrain
editing from aerial and satellite imagery. Therefore, an alternative
was required to speed up the manual process without losing data
quality.
With stereo Pliable Display Technology, detail can be presentedin the
context of background data, increasing collection and QC productivity
by 20%.
(Photo: Boeing Autometric)The
Solution:
Detail-in-context technology allowed analysts to collect full-res data,
surrounded by a lower-resolution context display. This reduced the
amount of time by minimizing the screen displays covered and reducing
search time for applicable features. After initial technical
discussions with Boeing, IDELIX prepared a proof-of-concept
demonstration of stereo Pliable Display Technology (PDT) for use at
their Vancouver headquarters. Once the concept was validated, Boeing
Autometric entered in a licensing agreement with IDELIX to use PDT in
its products.
The Difference It Made:
Noticeable performance improvements have been reported in the field of
manual feature collection in imagery. Atlantic Air Survey Ltd., which
utilizes Boeing Autometric's new stereo PDT lensing capability in
SoftPlotter 4.0 and KDSP 1.2, reports that the increased functionality
resulting from the stereo lensing option has made a significant
contribution to their production process. The real-time zoom option
enabled Atlantic Air Survey to edit and collect data concurrently,
resulting in a time savings of at least 20%. This approach has proven
especially useful when editing contours and DEM data, as well as
performing quality control tasks.
